Listening Sessions
 
The Board has received the results of the CAT.  We are organizing a series of listening sessions (no longer meals!) to ask the congregation some questions about who we are and where God is calling us in the future!  We have organized three in person sessions and three via Zoom.  You can sign up in person or through this link or on the sign up sheets in the Narthex.  Please add your voice to this valuable conversation!
 
 
Junior High help wanted
 
The CYF committee is exploring creating a group for 6-8 graders who have aged out of SEEDS. If you are interested in helping out with this ministry, please contact Sue Kennedy.
 
Pastor Chris’s last day
 
Chris has answered the call to serve Northwood Presbyterian Church as their pastor.  His last Sunday at UPB will be September 25th.  For more details, see his letter here.

The Mission and Service committee will be collecting school supplies and back packs until August 21st.
 
Greatest Needs at the  Bowie Food Pantry now are:
Soups
Canned Vegetables (NOT green beans or corn)
Canned Meats (e.g., beef stew, chili, corned beef hash) Peanut Butter (18-ounce size)
Condiments (e.g., mustard, salad dressing, ketchup, spices)
 
Please note: REGULAR ITEMS ARE PREFERRED. The Pantry has a few large families, but most households consist of 1 to 3 members.

Join us this Sunday as we will celebrate the sacrament of Baptism as we baptize Ian and Jonas Wahlberg-Painter.  There will be a Chat & Chew afterwards.

Art & Music Camp
 
We had a great time at Art and Music Camp last week.  Thank you to everyone who helped out!  If you want to see what we were up to, check out this video!  
 
Special Services
 
This Sunday,  August 7th, we will celebrate the sacrament of Communion.  On August 14th, we will celebrate the sacrament of Baptism as we baptize Ian and Jonas Wahlberg-Painter.
 
Listening Meals
 
The Board has received the results of the CAT.  As part of our follow-up, we want to meet with people and facilitate discussions about where UPB is being called in the future.  We have set up a series of potluck meals,  Each meal will be up to 8 people, 2 board members, and pastor Chris.  Please sign up through the sign up sheets in the Narthex or through this link.  
 
Vacation Interfaith School 
 

The Interfaith Coalition of Bowie is having a Vacation Interfaith School this year, where children 8-12 years old will have an opportunity to visit houses of worship of different faiths and learn about them.  It will begins tonight and will run through the 5th from 6:30-8:00.  UPB will be hosting a night, Friday, August 5th.  You can register here.  If you would like more information or would like to help out, please see Chris.

Additionally, the Pantries highest demands at this time are Soups, Peanut butter, low sugared cereals, canned vegetables, condiments and spaghetti sauce.
