In preparation for an upcoming sermon, I would like your help. I would like to know where you have seen Jesus during this time of Covid. Please film a short video and tell me where you have seen Jesus during this time. The easiest way to do this is to put your cell phone on selfie mode and hit record. You can text them to 309-357-0132 or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org Please send any videos by Wednesday, May 6th.
We will be doing another collection for the Bowie Food Pantry on May 27th from 10-11. There will be a car parked with the trunk open an dyou can deposit the food in the trunk. This will allow for safe social distancing whiel providing for those in need. We will also be collecting for the Summer Fun Baskets!
Summer Fun Baskets
The Children, Youth and Family Committee will be delivering Summer Fun Buckets to all our UPB/SEEDS families in June. We are asking for help from the congregation in providing items for the buckets. For those who are not comfortable with shopping and would like to make a monetary donation, checks should be made out to United Parish of Bowie, with Summer Fun Buckets on the memo line. Donations need to be at church by Wednesday, May 27. Suggested items include:
- Coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, markers
- Construction paper and drawing paper
- Other art supplies such as water colors, finger paints, or tempera paint stickers
- Chalk, sidewalk chalk, play dough, stickers and sticker books
- Bubbles, “cool” sunglasses, water balloons, beach balls (uninflated please!), and frisbees
- Jigsaw puzzles, small games such as travel size Trouble, Connect Four, Checkers, playing cards, word search, sudoku, or crossword puzzles books
- Magnetic letters and new books
- Individual bags of pretzels, popcorn; freezer pops
We are looking to put together a team to explore what equipment might be necessary to stream worship once we are back in person. If you are interested in helping with this, please let Russ know.
Stay at Home Order
Maryland, DC, and Virginia have issued stay at home orders enforcable by fines and/or jail time. If you need to be out on essential business, please let Chris know and he can send you a letter to protect you while out.
We will continue with prayer services on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 and Thursday afternoons at 1:00. This is a brief time of scripure, devotion, prayer, and a little catching up! Services last approximately fifteen minutes and we would love to have you join us at https://zoom.us/j/159967508
Several people have asked how they can continue to make their tithes and offerings while we are not meeting in person. There are several ways. You can mail a check to the church. You can give online through paypal https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=KJTC62AUPNWCE&source=url You can also set up a payment through your banks online bill pay feature. Paypal charges the church approximately 3%, so please consider either consider giving through one of the other two ways or adding 3% to your offering to offset the fee.
If any of our members who are “at risk” do not feel safe running errands, we have put together a team to help you out. Please email me at email@example.com and I will put you in touch with them.
