September 12th E-votional

This past Sunday, we celebrated kick-off Sunday.  The choir was back from their summer break and sounded incredible (as always).  Seeds returned last night, Cross-Gen is back this coming Sunday.  The new programming year is underway!  After church we had a celebration, and it seemed everyone who was able to stay had a great time!  We had karaoke, a bounce house, the facepaint lady, pony rides, and a mini petting zoo.

In the petting zoo, there were goats, a miniature cow, a tortoise, rabbits, ducks, and chickens.  As they were breaking down the pens, Jan Barbato said, “look, new life.”  Sure enough one of the chickens (I suppose it could have been a duck) had laid an egg.  New life.  Now I know not all eggs hatch, not all eggs produce new life, but it is a pretty good symbol.  New life.

What better words to express kick-off Sunday then new life?  It is a new program year.  It is time for new beginnings.  It is time for new life!

What better words to express our faith than new life?  After all, what else does Christ offer other than new life?  Not just the promise of life after death, but a new life here on Earth!  A fresh start, a clean slate, a new way of being!  Remember what Paul wrote to the Romans, “we too might walk in newness of life.”

New life.  Emblematic or our faith.  Emblematic of the new program year.  New life.  The Holy Spirit breathes new life into us.  We breath new life into the church.  Where are you experiencing new life?  Where is their new life in your faith journey?  How are you breathing new life into UPB?

2 Corinthians 5:17: “So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!”
