God has been a mystery to people of every age – we get glimpses of who God is in many ways. We might see God in the face of a child or in smiles and laughter as we gather with friends. It may be in that listening ear when we need to talk or in the little things that people do for one another. For Daniel, God is revealed to him through visions and the ability to interpret dreams for others.
We recently celebrated Thanksgiving, a day set aside specifically to give thanks. It is a holiday that does not have as much chaos and craziness as Christmas – no gifts or Christmas tree or concerts or pageants. It is about spending time with one another. Have you gotten lost in the busyness of this season and not taken time to give thanks?
Let us pray using Daniel’s words:
Blessed be the name of God from age to age,
For wisdom and power are his.
He changes time and season,
Deposes kings and sets us kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness
And light dwells with him.
To you, O god of my ancestors,
I give thanks and praise.
May you find hope and light this Advent season!
